If you are looking for an easy hike on Lake Tegernsee, you are spoiled for choice. Our favourite is the Tegernseer Höhenweg: it’s an easy hike accessible all year round and is suitable for the whole family. Starting in Gmund you’ll need an hour and a half to reach you destination – the Tegernsee lake promenade. Starting in the opposite direction, the easy hike is ideal for a walk after lunch at the Bräustüberl.

Trail Description
This leisurely hike starts at the Gasse car park – public toilet available. Just five minutes into the hike you’ll find yourself outside Oberbuchberger’s farm shop. We recommend stopping here at least briefly for a quick look inside or a coffee in the beautiful gardens. Leaving Oberbuchberger’s the road takes you down towards Tegernsee until you reach a sign for the Höhenweg T1. Here you’ll turn south and on to Sankt Quirin and the town of Tegernsee.

The lightly undulating path takes you through idyllic meadows and wooded areas, past cows and llamas.

You’ll find plenty of shade and numerous benches for a short break along the Tegernsee Höhenweg.

Around every corner you’ll discover a new vantage point with views over the lake and the surrounding mountains.

At the hotel “Das Tegernsee” you’ll reach the end of this stunning easy hike at Tegernsee, taking you down to Tegernsee train station. The hike takes about 1.5 hours in total.

At Tegernsee train station, walk along the Alpbach to the lake promenade. From here it’s a 7-minute walk south to the Bräustüberl Tegernsee. There are several options for returning to Gasse or Gmund: by train, by boat, by bus or of course on foot.
Summits
Various hikes start along the Höhenweg in the direction of Neureuth and Schliersee. The hike from Schliersee to Tegernsee on the Prinzenweg is a particular highlight in the region and also starts from along the Höhenweg.
Summary
If you’re looking for a leisurely, easy hike at Tegernsee for the whole family, this is the one for you. Even toddlers can safely walk alone. Thanks to the low altitude, the Höhenweg is perfect for a winter hike on Lake Tegernsee – even in snow and ice.
