With its crystal clear water and the Mangfall mountains rising in the background, Lake Tegernsee offers a breathtaking backdrop for both nature lovers and those simply looking for a relaxing day out. But when it comes to the best view of Lake Tegernsee, there is one place that can be considered a bit of an insider tip: the Kaltenbrunn Viewpoint.
The Kaltenbrunn Viewpoint is considered one of the most beautiful spots along the lake with it’s panoramic views of the Wallberg and Hirschberg mountains, and makes for a perfect stopover during a bike tour around the lake. Here you can take a well-deserved break, watch the boats on the lake and maybe even catch some paragliders sailing down from the Wallberg.
Just below the Kaltenbrunn Viewpoint is the Waakirchner beach, where you can even stop for swim in the lake. The beach is small and stony but never busy – even in peak season. Despite the popularity of Tegernsee, you can still find peace and quiet here. Right next to the beach there is a pier where you can board a boat for a tour of the lake.
The Seeblick Kaltenbrunn is the perfect place for a picnic. Although the proximity to the road can be a bit annoying, this small disadvantage is more than made up for by the incomparable view over Lake Tegernsee. If you don’t have a snack with you, you don’t have to go hungry: the Gut Kaltenbrunn beer garden is only 200 meters away. The impressive King Ludwig II monument can be found here at the entrance and is definitely worth a visit.
