With its impressive location at the mountain station of the Wallbergbahn Cable Car and a breathtaking view of the Tegernsee mountains, the Wallberg panorama restaurant promises a unique experience during a trip or a hike at Lake Tegernsee. During “Föhn” conditions (a warm, dry, downslope wind), visitors can enjoy a fantastic view over the Alps to Switzerland and Austria. A trip with the cable car to the Wallberg panorama restaurant is recommended all year round and in any weather!
The Restaurant
The Wallberg Panorama Restaurant is a popular meeting point for hikers, e-bikers and guests of the Wallberg gondola. In the large interior area with a 270-degree glass front, you can sit comfortably at any time of the year. Protected from the cold and wind, guests can enjoy a break on the large sun terrace and admire the breathtaking view of the Tegernsee mountain panorama. Despite the large number of guests during peak seasons, the service is always fast and friendly in our experience.
The Food
Whether you’re stopping by for lunch, coffee and cake, a snack or just a rewarding beer after a long climb, the restaurant’s menu has something for everyone. In addition to several classic Bavarian dishes, guests can expect to find a wide selection of meatless and international dishes.
Particularly noteworthy is the variety of vegetarian and vegan options offered in the Wallberg Panorama Restaurant. We have never seen so many meat-free choices elsewhere in the mountains around Lake Tegernsee. There is also a separate menu for children with five different options.
Unexpectedly for Tegernsee, the beer served here comes from Munich’s Hacker-Pschorr brewery and not from the local Tegernsee brewery as is usual for gastronomy in the area.
Directions & Parking
The easiest way to reach the Wallberg Panorama Restaurant is with the Wallberg Cable Car (Wallbergbahn). The ropeway ride takes just over 10 minutes and brings guests to the mountain station, where the restaurant is located.
The valley station of the cable car can be reached by bus 9550 / 9556 from Tegernsee train station. For guests arriving by car, there is a large car park at the valley station of the ropeway.
