Kaltenbrunn Beer Garden (Tegernsee)

Located along the official cycle path around Lake Tegernsee, with its impressive panorama view over the lake to the Wallberg and Hirschberg mountains, the Kaltenbrunn beer garden can rightly be considered as the best Biergarten on Lake Tegernsee.

An idyllic location, traditional atmosphere, a rich selection of Bavarian cuisine and plenty of activities right on the doorstep, the Kaltenbrunn beer garden offers pretty much everything you could wish for on a trip to Lake Tegernsee.

The Beer Garden

The stunning location of this self-service Biergarten makes for a great destination during a trip to Tegernsee. Visitors can enjoy panorama views of the lake from the shade of the trees and enjoy a relatively peaceful break from the crowds.

The beer garden itself is spacious with a variety of seating options, perfect for visitors of all ages, whether for family outings, a meeting with friends or even a romantic hour for two. A large playground on the slope below the beer garden offers plenty of space for kids to explore within sight of the parents.

Wednesdays is live music day at the Biergarten – always from 6 p.m.. Whether you prefer traditional folk music or modern interpretations, you can guarantee the local musicians will put on a great show every week.

A special highlight: there is a monument to King Ludwig II right in the beer garden. Dine with King Ludwig II with a view of Lake Tegernsee – you can’t get more Bavarian than that!

Those who prefer waiter service can head over to the adjacent terrace of the Käfer Restaurant Kaltenbrunn.

Beer Garden Menu at Kaltenbrunn

As well as the usual beer garden dishes such as chicken, currywurst, snack platters, sausage salad and chips, there is always a daily special for those who are more hungry. We highly recommend the Obazda. The salads listed on the menu look promising, but usually disappoint – especially considering the prices.

As is usual in other restaurants in and around Tegernsee, the Kaltenbrunn beer garden also has a selection of wines and spritz drinks as well as Cremant and champagne. The beer served here is from Hacker-Pschorr (Helles) and the Hopf Brewery in Miesbach (wheat beer).

Nearby

The beer garden at Gut Kaltenbrunn is not only a great spot for lunch or a snack, it’s also a great starting point for many activities along the lake. Take a relaxing walk by the water along the panorama path along the shore or head for a swim at Waakirchner Beach directly below the beer garden. Just next to the beer garden you can also find what is possibly the best view of Lake Tegernsee at the Kaltenbrunn Viewpoint.
