Start: Hiking Car Park Tegernsee Neureuth
The closest parking option is the official Neureuth hiking car park, where you’ll be starting from 900 meters elevation. A few minutes into the hike you can to decide whether to take the summer or winter trail. The summer trail is slightly longer but more varied. In snow or with a stroller, we recommend sticking firmly to the winter trail. The ascent described here runs along the summer trail and offers a magnificent view to the south of the Blauberge mountains and the well-known peaks on Lake Tegernsee shortly after the start.

Following the signs for the summer path, the route continues along alpine meadows and through the shady forest. After about an hour the path flattens out and a few hundred meters away you can see the hut and the Neureuth chapel, which was inaugurated in 1976.

Neureuth mountain hut
Whether you’re here at the weekend or during the week, it is always worth making an early start. Despite the size of the outdoor terrace, seats fill up fast – especially around lunchtime.

If you’re here early enough you can even come for breakfast – served from 8:30 a.m. From 11:30 a.m. onwards you can order soups and main dishes such as sausages, salads, roast pork and spinach dumplings. The meat here is sourced from the Tegernsee butcher Trettenhann and the vegetables come from Wunderlich in Gmund. Look out for the daily specials and don’t forget to leave room for dessert: whether you opt for the Kaiserschmarrn, a homemade cake or one of various strudels, you wont be disappointed.
The mountain hut was built in 1895 on the highest plot of land in Neureuth. The Neureuth has been owned by the city of Tegernsee since 1964.
