Schwaigeralm

Located in a peaceful yet easy to reach spot in the forest south of Tegernsee, the Schwaigeralm attracts families, hikers and day trippers alike. The Alm is open all year round and is an ideal starting point for hikes and bike tours in the beautiful Wildbad Kreuth hiking area.

Don’t miss the stunning waterfall along the Sagenbach on the way to the Alm!

The Alm

The Schwaigeralm is located at 816 m and is the perfect destination for a day trip from Munich. With plenty of space both inside and in the beer garden, even larger groups can easily be cated for. Inside you can choose a table in one of the rustically furnished “Stubn”. The open fireplace in the larger Stubn is the perfect spot for warming up after a long winters hike in the snow, of which there is usually plenty in this part of Bavaria.

Here in the forest you won’t have a view of the mountains. You can however enjoy the peaceful babbling of the beautiful Sagenbach brook from the beer garden. Kids will enjoy the small playground here, inside there is also a small playroom for bad weather days. Don’t miss the traditional “Hüttenabend” with live music every Tuesday.

The Food

The menu features regional dishes from both the Tegernsee valley and the nearby Tyrol region in Austria. The veal knuckle (Kalbshaxe) with glazed market vegetables and bread dumplings with dark beer sauce is a Schwaigeralm speciality. Similarly perfect for the colder seasons is the famous Schwaigeralm grilled duck with apple red cabbage and potato dumplings. Parties of two or more can order this dish up to a day in advance.

In summer, freshly caught char or trout from the in-house fish tank are on the menu. The trout is also available smoked. Thankfully the Kaiserschmarrn is served all year round as it may just be one of the best in the region.

The drinks menu provides some variety with a draft Augustiner, which is unusual for the region with its own fantastic Tegernsee Helles.
